Letter of thanks received from US Congressman for Writing the Sacred
US Congressional Representative of Ohio's 19th District, Dennis J. Kucinich, sent a letter of thank you to Ray McGinnis for mentioning his advocacy for the creation of a Department of Peace within the US Government. The reference was made in one of McGinnis' chapters in his new book, Writing the Sacred.
Kucinich, a candidate is the 2003-04 Democratic primary nomination for president to challenge the incumbent George W. Bush, won the support of 38 members of congress in April 2003 for the creation of a Department of Peace. In his presentation to the US Congress, Kucinich said such a department would be " dedicated to peacemaking and the study of conditions that are conducive to domestic and international peace."
In his July 13, 2005 letter to Ray McGinnis Kucinich wrote in part:
I'm so glad that you chose to include my proposal for a Department of Peace in your work (Writing the Sacred). It is important to continue to work for peace and non-violent conflict resolution in order to make the world a better place for all its inhabitants. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
Sincerely,
Dennis J. Kucinich
Member of Congress
